Review on πŸ”’ CHESONA iPad Pro 12.9 Keyboard: 5th Gen, Backlit, Detachable, Pencil Holder by Darin Schaffer

Sturdy body and easy to use keyboard

I first bought this for my wife when she got her 3rd gen iPad Pro. She liked the idea of the case and the keyboard. As these are two items I will rate them separately: Case: I am very pleased with the case and its apparent durability. The iPad slipped into the case fairly easily, and it feels pretty secure because it won't slide out again. The case folds up easily and doesn't show any looseness in the folds like many other cases that show up after a few uses. Although this case only fits the 3rd generation iPad (2018), it has slots for 1st generation Apple Pencils. This is normal as the Gen 2 pencil fits easily and securely into this storage slot. Note. At this time, the pen is not charging. There is a recess at the top of the case for the pencil to easily sit and charge. The magnetic force of the case is quite strong and the pen will not fall off by itself. Finally, as mentioned, the case doesn't have an option to automatically go to sleep when the iPad is closed. This has to be configured manually via the system settings, but it's fairly simple and doesn't affect the other functions of the case in any way. Keyboard: I was a bit surprised by the keyboard when we first received it. It feels more durable than other mobile keyboards I've used in the past and costs a lot more. The keyboard is a QWERTY keyboard and is easy to use even for non-technical people. There are 3 lighting sections, and each of them can be set to the same or different colors. As stated in the description, the keyboard uses Bluetooth v3.0. It's not the latest version, but it should be enough for most people, and lags will be barely noticeable unless you're typing over 100 words per minute. I'm mentioning this because of the negative feedback I've seen regarding it, and want to be clear that most people will hardly notice any typing lag, if at all. Hooking it up the first time was quick and easy, and like the lightbulbs, the buttons are clearly labeled for that purpose. The only negative I can say about the keyboard is that the instructions may not be clear enough and are quite simple. This will work for most people, but if you're unfamiliar with device pairing or function keys, it can get confusing. Conclusion: I am very satisfied with the quality and value of the case and the keyboard. I've been in the IT industry for over 20 years so it can be difficult at times. If you are looking for a beautiful, durable and easy to use case/keyboard combo, but don't want to spend a lot of money on similar products, I highly recommend this product. In fact, I bought a second one for my new iPad.
