I received this type of washcloth as a gift for the first time and was looking for something similar. They hit the mark - soft yet aggressive enough to feel like they're doing their job. I read several reviews where others thought it was rude. I make sure to soak the washcloth in water before use. It's also not something I would use on my face as I've seen other reviews looking for it to be used that way. In general, it is too rough to use on the face. Overall perfect for my needs, I use it many times maybe 10 times and make sure to air dry well after use.
