Review on Stylish and Sturdy: Mens Leather Strap Chronograph Watch, Classic Black, Stainless Steel Case, Waterproof, Date and Analog Quartz, Multifunction Military Watch by Devin Perry

Pseudo aviator style. Suitable for light daily wearing

I'm skeptical of this brand and price but I love the watch - the look and how it looks on my wrist - and I'm in the aviator phase, and I've had one $10 worth of Revain glasses. So for $20 I gave it a try. It's not a bad watch at all, it definitely looks like a pseudo-retro aviator, the chronograph counters work and the date wheel looks attractive. The watch is a bit shinier than I usually like, both the case and the green strap, but I can live with that. The face is a bit smaller than I expected, but as I said, it's appealingly complex and reminiscent of some AVI-8 and Stuhrling watches that cost two to three times or more. I've seen people stare at it in the three days I've worn it, but it may have been because of the green stripe. The crown feels a bit soft when pulled out. The seconds sub-dial has some issues resetting correctly to the 60 second mark. I'm pretty sure it's a Chinese movement, but I didn't open the case back, which by the way isn't a screw-down case (although some similar models in this price range have screw-down parts). The "presentation" case is a bit of a joke, so don't believe the picture - it's a cardboard box in the same case, just with foam on the watch. If you don't care and can justify it as a small investment, I would rate the watch as a nice addition to your daily clothing rotation (e.g. with green, khaki or burgundy shirts). It's too early to tell how fragile they'll be, but for the price of the average leather strap, if you're looking for a bit of 'aviator faux', you have a watch that's just the ticket . Style without a big investment. On the other hand, my $50-$75 Timex Expedition chronographs are much nicer, stronger, have clearer pushers and crown etc. (Call it 2.5 stars unless they fall apart, in which case I would go down to one). I am not sure of the origin of the mechanism but in the few weeks since I have had the watch it has lost time and days. Either the supplied battery is weak or the mechanism is defective. Since I can change the batteries myself, I will wait until they are completely dead before replacing them and then see if the clock shows a better time. However, I'm still obsessed with this $20-30 watch and might try on a few more depending on the looks. - VD Galyani, author of the book "Wild Nights".

Pros
  • German high hardness glass, comfortable to wear, anti-scratch key dial, waterproof stainless steel case cover make it super durable.
Cons
  • I don't have a huge aversion to it, everything is fine
