I will probably never take this off, it's my favorite necklace!Like the description says, it's a lab-created opal, but that definitely doesn't take away from how pretty it is, guarantees you a beautiful piece of jewelry, and it also keeps production and costs (for us too!) cheap! It shines brightly and the color-play is unlike what you would find in cheaper natural opals, where the variety and brightness of colors here would be rare to find.I bought this only for the opal pendant, so I don't really care for the quality of the chain. It also seems sturdy enough, so I will be using it unless I find another chain in rose-gold I like more or I find that I'm allergic to it! You're really paying for the opal, not the chain.It came in a plastic bag inside a very pretty purple velvet-y jewelry bag, which I probably wont use but I appreciate, especially because it makes for great gift-giving!Will update if the coating comes off, or if the material causes me allergies! :)
