I ordered these to replace a pair I've had for many years. The ground has finally started to sink. I usually wear them as indoor shoes and on the street I limit myself to going to the mailbox or going to the terrace. The elk leather upper is still strong, just a little worn. My first pair was a bit big so this time I ordered half a size down and they fit perfectly. I found the first pair to be a little loose. For me this was a positive feature as there is room for the orthotics I use for arch support. Goes great with orthopedic insoles. If you're feeling a little loose, try some insoles. I've read the comments about the quality but I've looked closely at the new ones and they seem to last just as long as the pair I'm replacing. If you're not used to elk leather, you also need to understand that it's a thick, durable leather that will take some time to break in. That's why mine lasted for years.
