Review on πŸ–₯️ MagBac Dual Monitor USB C Laptop Docking Station: Power On/Off, Dual HDMI/DisplayPort/VGA, Gigabit Ethernet, SD/TF Slots, 2 Type C Ports, 3 USB A Ports by Jacob Andreti

Buying a well-made USB-C docking station/hub is very difficult.

I've spent many hours/days looking at millions of USB-C docks and hubs. I decided on two options. One that stands upright, the second that is placed under the laptop. Both were Tobenone products. To my dismay, both were sold out. Further research led me to this MagBac docking station, which was very similar to the second Tobenone. As soon as I received it, I noticed a few strange things: 1. There is no brand or model number on the box (see photo 1-3).2. Neither the company name nor the model number are listed in the instructions that came with it. It also directs the buyer to another company (really Tobenone?) for technical support. See photos 4 and 5.3. After connecting to my external monitor, both HDMI ports caused an intermittent "faulty" connection. See photos 6 and 7.4. The Ethernet port was only working 50% of the time.5. The card reader is positioned in such a way that when a card is inserted, it will be skewed in most cases.6. The key's short cord looks strong, but it's very short and VERY HARD. When you place your laptop on the docking station, the coiled cable tension pulls down on the top left corner of the laptop. See Photo 8.7. The device gets very hot if you work for more than a few hours. (The original Tobenone product had an internal fan, which this one clearly didn't have). 8. The rubber grip on the top of the docking station does not prevent the laptop from slipping off. MagBac doesn't look like a real company: it doesn't have a website, tech support, or phone number. I had to assume the product was inferior, copy the cat product and proceed with the return. The search continues. .
