Good but not the best in Printers and Supplies

I have not used my Epson 845 printer for several months and the black ink has not printed at all even after cleaning the print head. I like this kit because it's made for Epson printers and has a fake cartridge that fits in place instead of just attaching a hose like some systems I've seen. The instructions were pretty clear but they told me to draw 2ml of the solution into the syringe. Two problems with that. The bottle with the solution has a nipple, so you cannot connect the nipple on the syringe to the nipple on the bottle. This problem is easily solved by removing the nipple from the bottle so that there is a hole for the syringe. The second problem is that there is no mark on the syringe to show where the 2ml is. Experimenting with another syringe I had, I found that the supplied syringe holds about 3ml, so fill it about 2/3 full to get 2ml. After the operation there was a clear improvement. Black started to print but the nozzle check still showed some gaps so I repeated the process which improved it even more but I still don't have a full image in the nozzle check and I have some gaps when printing in draft mode. It looks fine at higher print quality settings. Please note that after rinsing, it is recommended to perform the head cleaning process 2-3 times. Once is enough. After the second cleaning there were no further improvements and the process uses a ton of ink. As a result, the printer started working again, although not perfectly. The real moral is not to leave the printer idle for long periods of time. Update 3/11/13: Black ink now works properly. I've been using it in 'great' mode for the last week and decided to do another injector test and it showed 100%. Switched to economy mode and all is well. It looks like it took quite a bit of typing to really get the job done. Again, I wouldn't run the head cleaner again (maybe once) as it doesn't help much and wastes a lot of ink. Just keep printing at higher quality and it might just work.
