This review focuses on the new Xbox controller variant "Shock Blue" released with the Xbox Series X/S. Aesthetically, I like the blue color and white back panel. This is a beautiful controller. But let's face it, you probably won't see it once you start playing, so. Xbox controllers haven't changed much since the Xbox 360. Instead, they've gone through minor iterative improvements, and this is no different. This new controller looks and works almost exactly like the Xbox One controller, except for a new center share button and a micro-USB to USB-C switch. It still has a 3.5mm headset jack, an accessory port for keyboards and older headsets, and runs on AA batteries. The main differences are in the feel of the controller itself and the d-pad. It now has a much more textured feel that extends to the bumpers and triggers. Bumpers used to be shiny and slippery, now they have become duller. The D-Pad again takes on the Xbox 360's "petal" shape, but it's a vast improvement over this version, and feels taut and snappy rather than wobbly. It's similar to the Elite Series 2 paddle cross if you've seen it. The controller also feels a bit smaller in the hand. Hardly, but something about it differs slightly from the previous generation. The share button also makes it easy to save game clips and more. Basically, it's just a shortcut to press the Xbox button and manually navigate to the sharing settings. This item works with all Xbox One/S/X and Xbox Series X/S consoles as well as PC and Bluetooth devices. So it has great versatility. It works right out of the box and I got used to it straight away with the Xbox One controllers. Again, it's almost the same. So when I say "customized" I just mean I switched to it and that's it! I'm an Xbox fan and I love the controller. It's almost perfect in my opinion, but I've yet to experience the tactile feel of the PS5, which sounds interesting. I have no problem with AA batteries as they last a long time and you don't have to worry about the internal batteries getting old. That being said, if you've had problems with Xbox controllers in the past, this iteration won't change your mind.
