During this pandemic we have switched from our yoga studio to live streaming. The studio is a big room with all hard surfaces, no sound absorbing bodies, lots of echoes off the walls and floor. We broadcast via Facebook. Live stream from an Android smartphone on a tripod approximately 12 feet from the teacher. So we needed a wireless microphone with a small sound radius** that could be plugged into the headphone jack of the smartphone** (Why? because Facebook Live doesn't recognize a Bluetooth microphone, it only plugs one into the headphone jack) So if you use these or have similar problems -- WOW, this mic FIXES! No setup - turn on the microphone and receiver and they connect automatically. Simply plug the receiver into the headphone jack of your smartphone and you're good to go. There is no "pairing" with the phone. Decent sound (more on that below) Decent range (works great for us at 15-20ft, more than we need) I'd like to address some of the objections raised by another rs reviewer know 1) It has a VERY focused sound field. Point the microphone STRAIGHT UP toward your face from about 6 to 10 inches away. The sound quality degrades significantly the more you deviate from it. 2) The volume of the transmitter can be adjusted and this will change the quality. The transmitter turns on at volume level 8. The higher the volume level, the uglier the sound - notably you hear a lot of gray on "S" sounds etc. We found that turning the volume down 2 clicks (level 6) made it sound a lot more pleasant, but still very much so well audible. However, this is not a GREAT mic for audio. You can buy a much better WIRED microphone for the same money. But I don't think you can get anything quite like it with a non-Bluetooth wireless mic in this price range. Does a job that allows you to speak AND move, and does it just fine. The second point: pairing. The written instructions describe the method for pairing an UNPAIRED transmitter and receiver. A bit confusing to read and probably work. HOWEVER, THIS DEVICE IS FULLY PAIRED AND READY OUT OF THE BOX. I think people describing mating difficulties might be confused by the fact that everything was already up and running. A NOTICE. I've only tested this with Android phones from different brands. Everything works perfectly.
