I was attracted to the keyboard's lighting and imagined that, for the price, it would be without flaws. There are no issues with the brightness or color of the key illumination, and all characters and letters can be read well. However, there are two areas on the keyboard that make operating in the dark extremely inconvenient. The first area has indicator lights, which emit white light equivalent to four spotlights (a sensation familiar to drivers) and shine ten times brighter than the backlight of the keys. Indicators can be disabled as a treatment, or light filters can be used to lessen brightness (I have the latter option because I don't want to sacrifice functionality). This cant is accounted for in higher-priced Logitech models, which I take to be a suggestion from Logitech that "if you want an ideal, take it more expensive." Secondly, this area advertises Logitech, whose logo shines five times brighter than the keys. Contrary to logic, the logo's brightness is set in tandem with the first zone's keys. When the logo's brightness is reduced, so is the key brightness. Light filters are used to remedy the condition. The most up-to-date piece of software I downloaded from the site doesn't appear to correspond to the site's description (backlight tab). After spending an hour trying to figure it out, I finally figured out that the backlight can be dimmed by moving this circle (which is even more convenient than I had first thought). The setting is complicated for a user without advanced knowledge (unless the manufacturer updates the site's description of the setting to reflect the updated software). In conclusion, I'd like to state that this particular model (with backlight) proved to be the most suitable for my needs. This model combines features that are not available in other, less expensive models from the same manufacturer. If the manufacturer fixes all the problems, the high cost will no longer be a barrier to purchase.
