Review on πŸ’‘ Enhance Your SilverStone Modular Power Supplies with the SilverStone Technology Flat Flexible Short Cable Set - PP05-E by Collin Jackson

Slightly overpriced and cheap wire but not many alternatives.

I think it's overpriced for what you get, but what are your options really? The cables are indeed shorter than the SilverStone power supply. However, they are also a cheaper cable, which makes me feel even more overpriced. Original power supply cords are 16 AWG, these are 18 AWG (bigger is smaller). I noticed it right away because they seemed much thinner. The top is more flexible, but to be honest the originals were pretty flexible because they are flat. I thought they were identical just shorter. A shorter cable means you don't need as much wire, but I'd like to see larger wires on power-hungry cables. Maybe at least a GPU socket? You have it, so I can use a cable to power the 2 8-pin GPU connectors. I don't like the idea of sending 300 watts down one cable, so now I get either two with two ends stuck. (FWIW, the original was the same but thicker cable means more power) or just use the original which is longer but thicker and better rated. The length of the wires we are talking about is between the original and they honestly don't justify the difference in wire sizes. FWIW, the main differences between 16 and 18 AWG are the amount of current supported, how hot the wires are (heat and efficiency), and voltage drop. Thicker wire is better, but of course you don't want one that's too thick or difficult to work with, but again, standard wires had decent flexibility. IMO they should be $10 cheaper. It comes with a decent amount of cables, really overkill for me as I only needed a few. I could be wrong but I think the old style also used thicker/better cables from the looks of it, but again not 100%. For the average user, they're probably decent (still overpriced). I'm building an ITX gaming rig with a 980ti, 6700k and 750w PSU so I'm a bit disappointed but I'm sure they will be 'ok'.
