August 31 Startech always seemed to me to be a reliable and high quality brand. I've never had much luck with their products. I ordered a device a few months ago and have used it with no issues, getting USB and ethernet speed efficiencies with no issues. It worked stably with no failures. I'm a little disappointed and even skeptical about some of the negative reviews that have been left about this product. I'm wondering if the causes of the reported issues are related to the OE, if not then this product is being used with a USB 2.0 port (or less) which will certainly cause some (if not all) of the reported issues. I've bought 2 more for the machines that lack both USB and Ethernet ports and so far they're still working great.
