Review on ⚗️ Efficient Organic Chemistry Stencil Drawing Template for Precise Chemical Structures by Amber Perez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Everything is OK?

The plastic turned out to be a bit flimsy and the width of the cut outs seems to be more suitable for 0.9+mm. I prefer 0.38 or 0.5mm and when I try to draw the benzene double bonds the line rises from the curve of the template cut out. I tried 0.7 but that also gave me curved lines from the stencil. Also, the green guides that were printed with a lot of textures could sometimes not be aligned because the corners were wrong or something similar. It was definitely very handy to slip into my lab notebook and have a ruler whenever I need it, but it probably wouldn't fit in a notebook or anything. Also, it annoyed me a little to have such large and responsible structures when I naturally have a smaller handwriting. Certainly well thought out, with a variety of commonly used structures (although the Fischer and Newman projections were definitely never used on my part) and the inclusion of stereochemistry and "weird" cycles like pentane/heptane/octane. It just needed a little better execution I think.

Pros
  • This mylar stencil is thin, flexible, durable, translucent and most importantly, recyclable.
Cons
  • Poor instructions
