This light is more suited to accent lighting, but even then it's too dim for my 5 gallon and the light itself doesn't illuminate the water enough to see the bright colors, unless my betta , it's right below. To give you an idea of how flimsy it is, I'll probably have to buy 4 or 5 of these to get decent coverage in my 5 gallons. The "white" light function is actually multicolored and gives my tank a purple tint. The suction cups aren't strong enough to support the weight of the unit, so I had to reinforce it with tape under the lid to keep it from falling into the water. It's also poorly hidden under the hood, hanging below the water level. Even though it's at the back, it's easy to spot if it's just a few feet from the tank. However, I like having a remote control. All in all a very "furry" product but I believe you get what you pay for when it comes to aquarium lighting.
