Outdoor Bombardure Pants

This is my second pair of these XPRT 5.11 pants, my other pair in multicam . It's a shame that 5.11 will end the XPRT series, but maybe some improvements will be made to it. First, these pants are explosion-proof. I climbed over a barbed wire fence and got caught with my pants in the crotch area where the stretch fabric is. After washing them I got out my sewing kit and figured I'd have to fix them. The crack has almost disappeared, as if the material were self-healing. Speaking of the crotch area, inside is a suede material very similar to what you see on cycling shorts. Unruly parts stay nice and dry, even when it's warm and humid. No more swamp azz. There are many pockets and they are big. Not only can you save your phone, but also many logs if needed. Who needs a garbage bag when you've got these pants. The best feature is perhaps the waist. There is mesh padding on the hips and back, similar to the lining in bulletproof vests. If you're wearing a duty/combat belt, you'll appreciate this extra padding. The belt loops are nice and wide, probably 2 inches, and there are plenty of them. You can just wear a rigger strap and push off with just these pants, no straps required. I'm joking, of course, but they are so sure. The knee pads are great! Much better than the outer ones that always slip and sweat. There are also pull tabs at the waist where you can tuck excess material or leave it to accommodate a larger waist. My only request would be that the 5.11 has some sort of strap that you can use to gather the fabric around the knee so the kneecap is always in close contact with your knee. There are multiple loops above and below the knee where I have used pant straps to do this when out in the field.

Pros
  • Flat, adjustable waistband for comfort and breathability, while cargo area, back and bottom pockets have magnetic closures for silent access
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
