These are perfect for my teenager so be aware they may not fit your 16 year old boy if he is mine is similar. this age. I wear large women sized gloves and I can barely get my hand in and my fingers go all the way and then some more. So I would say guys can go up to 12 or 13 depending on the hand. The material feels strong and durable with good grip in the palm/finger area. I'm concerned that they used the same elastic grip material for the palm clip to hold them together. Just tugging on it a little doesn't fill me with confidence that it will continue. It doesn't really matter unless there is a hole at the stitching point. Love the straps that tighten the gloves to keep snow out. Although I prefer the old ones with Velcro. You couldn't tighten it that tight, but it was easier for him to do it himself. They feel warm and when you submerge them underwater it feels waterproof. I can't test the windbreak but when they go skiing next winter I'll definitely update my review if there are any issues.
