Review on 8GB Tayogo Waterproof MP3 Player: Bluetooth Swim Headset with Shuffle, FM & Flash Drive Support (Yellow) by Mike Malvo

Revainrating 5 out of 5

OK. Not great, great potential.

The device won't stay connected to my Mac as a USB drive. It stays connected long enough to skip a few MP3s. I'm pretty sure it needs a firmware update. The sound is ok but not outstanding. Didn't expect it to be great. The headset fits comfortably, albeit a little pressure on the ear. I just smoothed it out a bit and it fits better. The instructions do NOT tell you how to pair it with your phone, but you can figure it out by playing around with it. The instructions don't specify how to switch between modes (there's a very hard button on the edge that does this). I haven't tried it in the water yet. I will update the review as soon as I do. Update 8/5/18: After 20 minutes in the water on laps, the left earbud started to sound muffled. Yes, this can mean there is water in the headphones, but the problem persisted after the headphones dried out for a while. The headset cannot be switched to MP3 mode without the phone app. If there's no way, that's also unacceptable as you can never guarantee your phone will be around. Or paid for it. The device should not impose this restriction. Update 8/14/18: Bluetooth is great, but devices turn on and off even at close range. And there wasn't anything around, so interference wasn't an issue.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Gotcha
