Garbage. buy something else.

I close my bedroom door and open my bedroom window at night because I love fresh air and I love my bedroom cold. Not very cold, but cold enough to curl up under the covers. I don't wear pajamas and all the duvets I've tried over the years are too heavy and still don't care about the "chilly spots" under the duvet. I know the best alternative would be a good, light and expensive duvet, which I have used for most of my life during the winter, but I just didn't want to deal with the cost and hassle of using a duvet during this period of my life. I'm old, changing sheets is a problem these days. And then I remembered my mother many decades ago. When she got old she bought an electric blanket and she liked it very much. She kept her bedroom cool to save on heating bills and she always commented how nice and warm the electric blanket was. try it. But finding the "right one” was a challenge. I didn't want anything heavy and I didn't really want one of those fluffy warm microfiber or polyester duvets, they're warm but they don't breathe like cotton. I know cotton isn't that warm but thought it would be ok given the heating elements. Well the blanket didn't work out and here's why: 1- Heavier than I would have liked. 2- Absolutely no need for 20 temperature settings. I leave my window open a few inches, it's about 2 feet from the bed, and I've never had a setting higher than 2, even when it's below freezing outside and the bedroom is pretty cold. 3- The plastic window through which you see the LED that shows the heat level appears to be opaque and it is incredibly difficult or almost impossible to see the setting. That alone would have been enough to get me to send it back after a few tries, but I didn't want to put myself through the hassle. But here's why I'm writing this review today: when I plugged in the power cord. into the socket on the ceiling, i knew that sooner or later there would be problems. It was too difficult to assemble. I checked to make sure everything was lined up correctly and with a lot of effort the string finally snapped into place. It was around mid-October 2021 and I knew I would have trouble taking it apart if I ever had to. Well I decided it was time to wash the comforter and when I tucked the comforter away I realized it was impossible. I checked the (poor) instructions and all it said was "press the button" which meant the plug could then be unplugged. Impossible! And I would challenge anyone to complete that task. Even using a screwdriver to depress the "button" didn't move until I finally disconnected it, which of course destroyed the useless button and connector. So what do I have now? Well, the cable plugs into the socket in the ceiling, but it doesn't "stay" there because the locking connector is defective. What to do? The best I can think of is to tape the outlet with duct tape. A bit like the Mickey Mouse way of dealing with one of the most expensive electric blankets I've ever seen and a total waste of $100. I bought Woolrich decades ago, sizing for some clothes used to be an issue but at least they put out a quality product. This is not the case with this blanket, it's a big disappointment. I'm within the 5 year warranty period though, so maybe I'll give it a try if it's not too much hassle.
