Review on Nikon 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR AF-S DX NIKKOR Zoom Lens with Auto Focus for DSLR Cameras by Aditya ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I do not cease to rejoice at the purchase, a very good deal!

Excellent glass from Nikon. Very satisfied. I had a Nikkor 18-70. According to the overall score on the DxOMark tests on the Nikon D90, it bypasses 18-140, 18-105 and 16-85. But in the picture, no. There, the colors went more into gray and blue colors, the picture turned out to be some kind of “plasticine”, the lens didn’t have much of a picture, it just fixed everything as it is. 18-140 still has a drawing, some kind, but there is. The colors I like the most, they are deep and rich. For creativity, I have 35 mm 1.8, but for everyday use and travel, 18-140 is just right. I also considered 18-105, it is 1.5 times cheaper, but since in the near future I will switch to Nikon D7100 and it has a matrix of almost 25 MP, then 18-140 will be able to resolve this matrix, but 18-105 will not.

Pros
  • Convenient focal lengths. Bright, deep and rich colors. A very good drawing. Nice bokeh, especially at 140mm. Sharpness, it's very sharp. Almost all photographs are obtained with "ringing sharpness", in the presence of a sufficient amount of light. Quiet and accurate autofocus. The stub does its job well, the photos are clear even at 140 mm and a shutter speed of 1/10. Good build quality, metal mount.
Cons
  • Big distortion at 18mm. Although at 24 everything is already fine.
