I wanted it because it slides under the sofa (requires 1.25 inches of clearance). My son has a metal one and it's great that you can instantly have a small table right next to you wherever you sit. It didn't work for me - I measured the distance in front of the sofa and it was 2.5 inches, plenty of distance but I didn't notice that a few inches from the edge is a steel rod going all the way through the couch which only has a 1 inch gap so the table bangs against it. I don't know why, it's not a sofa bed, but both ends can be folded up and the backrests reclined, so maybe it has that bar for support; I've never noticed that. In any case, measure the distance not only at the front, but also at the back. I am disappointed, but the table is still suitable as a narrow side or corner table. It's solid enough, made from nice bamboo, but all the screw heads are visible with no covers, making it look unfinished. The instructions weren't very good, but assembly was easy enough to figure out and all the necessary parts were included.
