Review on OTC Molded Exoskeleton Low Profile Exolite by Tres Carmon

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Cheaply made, poor support and fell apart within a week.

The title of this review speaks for itself. I ordered these two to replace one of my old braces that finally broke after a few months of use. So I was very excited when it came out, but after a few minutes I saw a bunch of design flaws. It was easy to put on and fit almost exactly, but I quickly found that the brace offered mediocre lateral support and allowed too much lateral wrist play, especially on the outside. I was also concerned to discover that the lower shank was missing, which is made of high-strength material to protect my wrist from re-injury. That means if I fall etc. and reach out to catch me, the brace just flexes. So that was a big minus, I would never wear this brace in the winter months. Fortunately or unfortunately this is no longer a problem as within a week of receipt and with light to moderate use the strap between the thumb and forefinger broke rendering the brace unusable. Why this strap is made entirely of molded rubber plastic with no simple nylon core I don't understand. Another note: unlike most bracelets with removable inserts, they are not washable. Not only can it not be washed as the padding is held in place by small drops of glue. I can only imagine what one of them would smell like if it lived longer than a month. In short, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
