I like that it's completely FREE! It has never failed me yet, but then again my hard drives have been pretty good as of late so not sure if this was just luck or whatnot? But really all you need to do with gtrecovery (or any other "data recover" program) is select your drive in question from within their easy-to-use interface/ui. If there are no problems listed under 'drive errors', chances are everything will be fine when doing an actual scan. You might want ot run multiple scans though since sometimes they'll come up empty even after finding bad sectors etc. A few minutes here can save hours later by having something at hand should anything go wrong during future use or upgrades.
