This is for the serious makeup owner. You can put so much in there. I currently have at least 8 palettes, plus a department for blush, concealer/powder, eyeliner and mascara and brushes. I don't actually use the mirror compartment, but you can also stow flat things there. I love that I never look for anything like a bucket of makeup. Also, not a single item in my bag fell apart like bucket bags do. All safe and secure, no more screwed up eyeshadow. I have a lot of makeup so it's big (briefcase, laptop size?). If you only have the basics and aren't a makeup lover, go down the size. I buy a second one to store my skincare products and then the smallest two sizes for travel (one for cosmetics, one for skincare). I feel like a fucking pro, everything is organized and in its place I grab what I need right away. Close it and tuck it under the table, take it out and work outdoors - no need to spread cosmetics all over the table or sink. One of my best Amazon purchases.
