As we cannot share consumables but there are still audio parts of the exams, they have become mandatory. I go through about 50 headphones in each test. They last a month or less, so think of them like disposable earplugs. Best of all, they cost less than $1 a set. From time to time I get a set that doesn't work, but we throw it away and move on to the next one. To be honest, they only have to work for a student at least once to make them worthwhile. You won't find anything cheaper.
