I know it sounds silly, but we started calling these "Wonder Pipes". Here's why: First time I gave my 10 month one. Granddaughter, I always buckled her in my car and for months she has been notorious for crying the entire car ride to get somewhere. During that 20 minute drive, she never cried! But I kept hearing her little gums squeaking with the whistle. Her knees were wet from the saliva that had dripped through the tube for 20 minutes. [the only downside to these things btw] but I didn't care because she was HAPPY! That night I gave my daughter a few to try for herself. The baby basically started crawling with one in her hand all the time and chewing on it every time she sat still. She went from restless and fussy to HAPPY! The next miraculous event happened about a week later when she was at my house and wanted to take an evening bath. She cried in every bathroom for weeks and they didn't know why. That night she not only cried — she got angry — and the whole house heard. I ran to another room to get one of these things, ran back and handed it to her in the tub. In two seconds she went from crying in anger to squeaking her gums happily on the hose in the tub! HAPPY! Her parents and I looked at each other in silence! We now keep one of these in the car, at home, in a diaper bag etc because she is still easily distracted and/or soothed by being given one. Easy to clean in the dishwasher, shows no signs of wear despite MANY uses, great colors, a miracle!
