Review on Samson Meteor Studio Microphone Titanium by Jill Ramos

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Cool design, bad technology.

I did a lot of research before buying this microphone and wanted either Rhode or Audio Technica, but the prices for the models I liked were too high for me at the time. The Meteor was affordable and still had good sound. When I first got mine, it looked even better in person. Titanium black looks great. The materials, the color, the fit and the finish are all great on me. It's a good weight too. I found the controls simple and easy to use. Setup is as easy as it gets and using the mic is easy. The sound quality is excellent even when compared to some of the more expensive USB mics. I am very happy with my purchase and was willing to give this model 5 stars and rave reviews. One day she stopped working. The red light was on and I tried everything including checking the iMac it was connected to for problems. And after a few tries, I just get USB device detection, but the iMac no longer recognizes that it's a Meteor USB mic like it used to. I emailed Samson about the problem and never got a reply. When I bought this mic, Revain was $68 before tax. That's $68 that went into a microphone that's now useless paperwork. I've looked all over the internet for solutions. I haven't found any. However, I found that others were having the same issues on Macs and PCs. I cannot in good conscience recommend this product. Save a little more to get something better.
