After my old Sony receiver broke I wanted to find a good simple amp to take its place. The "most affordable" new items I've come across cost $100 or more, and I didn't want to spend them. Then I stumbled across this little gem and can honestly say it does its job more than well enough! I hooked it up to my flat screen TV with a 10 band Teac EQ and mainly use it for gaming. When properly aligned, this amp's sonic output is excellent and it has more than enough bass power to add enough depth. I use it with four 8 ohm stereo speakers (two in parallel on each output) with a serial subwoofer (mostly set to 2.1) and it has no problem getting a lot of sound out of them. And it has extra inputs and a headphone jack if I ever need them. A slight noise can be heard at the output, but this is only audible when no other sound can be heard. I only notice it when everything else is absolutely still. The only other negative thing I can think of is that there is a bit of distortion with too much high frequency tone. But for the price I paid for it, it's not enough to deduct a star! If you don't need video or digital audio skills and just want a basic amp with good sound, this is a great option!UPDATE - 05/13/2013: I've had it for over a year now and it still works like new! However, I discovered a small thing. A slight hiss from the speakers turns into a loud hiss when listening with headphones. It's loud enough that it's really useless to listen to with headphones, so I wouldn't recommend it for that type of use. However, for a 2.0 or 2.1 speaker setup it sounds great and for the price is very hard to beat! I still give 5 stars.
