Review on PEGASUS SwissGear Wenger Computer Backpack by Anthony West

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is a fabulous computer backpack.

This backpack is good in every way. I can truly say I've loved it since I unboxed it a few weeks ago and I've loved it more and more every day that I've used it. It really suits my needs. I also liked my previous SwissGear backpack but this one is much better. In response to some other comments and questions, it fits my 17" Dell Latitude laptop easily. The laptop compartment is padded on the front and back and has a red padded divider. My laptop protrudes slightly over the red divider but is well protected by the front and back padding of this section and the velcro is long enough to slide my laptop on and hold it securely. says "fits most 17" laptops" or something, so that's a SwissGear claim, not a Revain claim, and I believe it's true. Here are some other good things about this backpack: an internal frame/stand that allows it to stand firmly on the ground. The frame isn't really visible, so doesn't look like an internally framed backpack or anything, but it does keep the bag upright. I used to have issues with my old bag tipping forward after I got my laptop out because of stuff in the front pockets. An annoying nuisance at home and a slightly uncomfortable experience in places with dirty floors. even a swiss army knife. It has a nice full length zip pocket on the back that I use for charging cables and the like. And then it still has enough space for my external hard drive and other things. Plenty of pockets and a red and gray interior make things a lot easier to find than in my old backpack. It has a plastic key clip, but it's right next to the case I use for my iPhone and I don't want to hang my keys there to avoid scratching the phone. It's one of the few things I don't like. The next zippered section at the back is a small red lined quick access pocket. It's about as deep as my arm's length and quite roomy. There is a small velcro pocket for an MP3 player. I use a quick access pocket for my harmonica, headphones, aspirin, tissues, etc. * The area between the laptop section and the front section has an internal divider and is definitely big enough for a couple of large books (like stats textbooks). * The laptop compartment offers enough space for files or a large book and a laptop. It has a mesh pocket on the front. * The wrist strap has a steel cable embedded in the plastic that looks strong enough and a rubber or plastic spacer to prevent the cable from cutting your hand. It is good for hanging the bag in the shower stall. I liked the steel loop and carabiner on my old back or better but this one doesn't have that feature. I had another SwissGear computer backpack (see usage) and ended up tearing off a shoulder strap at the bottom. It was also only suitable for a 15-inch laptop. While I really liked the old one, this one is way, way better. It has all the little things that the old one was missing, even the details I hadn't thought of...did some good customer research on the design of this model.
