Review on 🎡 High Resolution Audio Player - Astell&Kern A&Norma SR25 in Moon Silver by Carlos Deuschle

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Best DAC/DAP I've heard

To me sound quality is more important than anything else and it delivers high frequencies that are smooth and beautiful, mids are warm, precise, smooth and punchy. The bass is amazing with deep lows. Had the rest of the experience matched the sound quality this would have been a 5 star rating. The worst thing about the SR 25 is the user interface, especially with third-party apps like Qobuz, the quad-core processor can't handle loading content and the app feels clunky and unresponsive. That being said, it's not really Astel and Kerns' fault, they've fixed the latency issues, but you'll have to pay more for the SE 200, for example, which starts at $1,799. In every respect, the sound quality and build quality are overshadowed by the lack of third-party software support. If you're looking for a great DAP for beginners, look no further. After 5 months of ownership I have mixed feelings about this DAP. The most annoying feature is the support for streaming services and offline support. I only use Qobuz on this DAP for music other than a few downloaded albums I have. It's slower than slow to download an app and offline music can take up to 3 whole minutes to start from the moment you select a tactic to play until it actually starts playing. Sometimes when I download an album it downloads all tracks and when I try to play them it says, that tracks 0.00-0.00 are not available. So I have to delete each track with the error and reinstall it separately. This is time consuming and annoying. When I use my own player for the albums I have, it doesn't take more than a few seconds to start playing, it does its job perfectly. I think Astel and Kern should market this differently and just make it a non streaming player which would be a 6 star rating doing it very well or make it $1000 and put a faster processor in it, then it would be made as long as they want. It's great but poor in many areas of usability, but audio is still king and it sounds amazing. If you don't use a streaming service, it's worth
