Review on EBags Mother Weekender Convertible Backpack: Versatile Casual Daypacks with Added Style by Jennifer Franks

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very close to perfection for light, long-distance travel. Get it with these Packing Cubes!

I've been using this backpack for about a year traveling in North America, Europe and Asia and it's perfect in many ways. I've been without this backpack for over 6 months, it has room for everything I need.**Pros**: Almost everything; Layout, lockable zippers, easy access to laptop and liquids when passing through airports, durability and more. **Pro Tip**: Buy eBags packing cubes. Medium-sized bags fit perfectly in the main compartment. I would recommend buying 3 medium packs and a combo pack with 1 small, 1 medium and 1 large pack. I use 4 mediums for clothes and a few other things in the main compartment. I will also take the larger one for the main subject. At first the clothes are empty, but gradually they move from medium cubes to large ones like linen. The small cube I would recommend is for electronics, adapters, chargers etc. Either put it in the outside compartment if you need easy access or in one of the middle cubes in the main compartment. **Cons**: There's only one thing missing that would make this backpack 100% perfect, but it's kind of an important thing. Lack of a decent waist belt. Most of the time it's not a problem (when I'm carrying a backpack for up to 60 minutes at a time) but the backpack really killed me when I did the 4-5 hour hike to cross the Timorese island. I wish eBags would at least offer this as an accessory. While not needed for most short trips or city breaks, it's reason enough for me to consider a competitor like the Tortuga backpack if it ever needs to be replaced.

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish
