In the last year our office has lost a few laptops so I bought one to protect my laptop. The cable is fairly flimsy that a decent set of cable cutters can cut through it. However, stolen laptops are generally a crime of convenience, so this lock will definitely act as a deterrent as a thief wandering the hallways is unlikely to be carrying bolt cutters or other heavy tools. It's good not to lose a key, but remember that it's important to ENCRYPT AGAIN AFTER UNLOCKING the lock, otherwise any passer-by will be able to read your code as the lock will be disabled on your desk. That's the only issue not to deduct a star for.
