Review on Gator Frameworks Desk Mounted Microphone GFWBCBM3000 by Michael Miles

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good product, just didn't meet my needs like I was hoping

So that's a good arrow mount, I use a Rode Podmic and it holds it securely in place so no major issues . I also think the articulation feels good and the internal springs offer good support/resistance. I have two main complaints. The first is that you can only install the microphone with your head facing down. The nature of the Rode Pod mic I use is that you speak into the "top" of the mic and its frame. This means you can only use this mount with the microphone hanging down and the boom up. I typically use this for live streaming and content creation, which means my hand and mic are severely obstructing my view of the video. If I were using the condenser mic you access from the front, it wouldn't be the case, but here we are. Second, I bought this mount because a cheap $15 mount clip slipped off the edge of my desk because it was so flat. and my microphone was very heavy. This hand appears to have a "better" clamp, but it's still too flat and still wants to slide off the table. It doesn't help that this hand is heavier than the previous one, so it only exacerbates the problem. I was expecting more in this regard, adjusting the mic causes the clamp to twist and turn and eventually loosen. And so I decide if I want to drill holes in my desk to securely attach the boom which is not positioning the mic properly. to avoid the same situation as my $15 mic stand. It's a good barbell though and if I set up a studio where I knew hand position wouldn't be an issue and I attached the base permanently I think it would work well.

Cons
