Revainrating 5 out of 5

My step-by-step notes: The product worked great on my 1998 Mustang.

Works as described. It took me just over an hour and a half to install the new gears and also swap out all the dash light bulbs. Below are my notes from several YouTube videos I watched before remembering what to do to swap out the gears. Please note that these are just my notes and may not be accurate. The following steps assume you know what you're doing and just need a simple checklist as a reminder. ***Use my notes below at your own risk*** 1998 Mustang GT: Step 1: T20 Torx - 2 Black Screws. Push/pull towards the seat on the small screwdriver to loosen. Step 3: Remove the black frame. Drag down and move up. Step 4: T20 - 4 BLACK Screws to Remove from Dashboard - DO NOT drop the screws! Step 5: Slide the instrument cluster off the dashboard, but do not pull firmly on the attached wires. Step 6: Disconnect both connectors - one tab each at top center. A NOTICE. The white connector was VERY tight in my car. Go to the bank. Step 7: T15 Torx or 5.5mm socket to remove clear cover. 8 screws Step 8: Remove the clear glass Step 9: Torx T15 or 5.5 under the speedometer Step 10: Flat head screwdriver to pry under the PLASTIK (no paper) grease/fill Step 11: Flat head screwdriver to pry under the PLASTIK (no paper) temperature/fuel. Step 12 Lift the nail and the speedometer with both hands. Step 13: Be careful not to break the locking pins. Flip the speedo/latch over. Step 14: Slightly lift the two blue tabs holding the motor and rotate the motor. Step 15 Remove the worm wheel. Step 16 Pull out the old round gear and clean the broken parts. Leave a small air gap at the base.) NOTE. Some effort is required to put on the worm gear. Step 18 Insert another gear and press firmly. I used a small screwdriver as a pusher to slide it in place. Step 19 Replace the motor. Install the rest in reverse order. I glued the locking pin in its place in the tire. While he looked bad on the bench, once he got back in the car he was hard to spot. You might as well replace all the lights on the dash while it's off.

Cons
  • Piggy bank Price
