I bought this pump to replace an identical pump which although the pump still worked, after 6 years of heavy use had a broken float rod which needed repair. This model has 1 hp. may be overkill for most home sump systems, but if you have it ready, the WAYNE CDU980E 3/4 HP Cast Iron and Stainless Steel Submersible Sump with Built in Vertical Float Switch is worth the money. It handles heavy rain with ease (and we've had some record-breaking downpours recently, so I needed an immediate pump replacement). I needed a pump that would expel unwanted water with ease. This fired every 10 seconds in heavy rain, keeping things dry without needing the help of a secondary pumping system. Usually, under normal conditions, he works once or twice a day. This model's slim form factor and float design make it ideal for our deep but narrow swamp. We have 2 pumps in a small space and that fits perfectly.
