From the toe of these shoes to the laces, it's a single piece of leather. I'm pretty sure they get better with age and weathering, but new ones are a little boring. The fit, feel and comfort are excellent, although I can't say that lightly (I have difficult feet). This is a good shoe that can only be worn for a few weeks before it becomes a great shoe.
