I usually wear 18/20 and I'm 5'4". I have large hips and butt and a thin waist. I got a 3 based on the reviews. I have them just received yesterday so this is just a first review they fit a little odd but are very comfortable i expected to hate them when i tried them on but i didn't hate them at all the waist doesn't seem tight. It's not a skinny belt at all. Also the rise seems a little short to me. That's why I say they're an odd fit. The fabric is thicker and more silky. Not very thick but thick in the sense that they're not see-through. Besides, I was still never been a fan of leggings with mesh panels because the seams on this piece always dig in after a while however this is not the case they are really very comfortable and I'm happy with the price and quality today i I walked about 2 miles uphill in them (I'm out of shape and starting hiking again). They slipped off my hiking waist pack a bit, but it was full with two bottles of water for me and my dog, cash, maps, snacks, and bags of poop. So it was difficult. Not sure if they would have slipped down if I wasn't carrying my backpack. They usually have to get back up after I get up. So overall I am satisfied with them and can recommend them.
