Benefits: Lathers up well and smells nice. It smells a lot like sandalwood to me. I missed that exotic smell of real Palo Santo incense. It softens my beard. The scent is not noticed by others except straight out of the shower and the immediate smell of my beard. The bad - there are some naughty synthetic chemicals that are controversial among purity advocates. It's not my place to say it's unsafe, but I'd do my homework if you're concerned about such things. In general, I prefer a more natural product. A similar softening can be achieved with hot oil (olive or coconut).
