Review on ACANA Cat Food: High-Protein, Real Meat Formula for Cats – Premium Quality Dry Food by Nicholas Gendron

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Arcana Appalachian was preferred, but watch out for calcium and phosphorus in the urinary tract and kidneys - add glasses to compensate.

Okay, feeding cats is an art. I've had cats that were great at what others couldn't. I have been feeding Royal Canin for 2 years as my two grew up on it. My third cat developed an allergy to dry cat food. A while back I tried the Instinct Rabbit - they weren't even interested. I bought the mutton and beef variety of this meal at the same time I bought grain-free products from Merrill and Blue Buffalo. First I tried Merrill Grain Free - same problem, then I tried Blue Buffalo - same problem - itchy legs and back, hair loss, scabs on skin along spine. I bought Arcana on a whim - lamb and beef, thinking they wouldn't like beef. Wow - surprise! 1. All three cats prefer beef, 2. after a short time all three cats have an improved coat, 3. now there is no more allergy, the scab is gone, the coat grows back. some are high in phosphorus and calcium and some are low in omega-3 fatty acids. The maximum percentage was now known to the reviewers, but these two ingredients, being high, can have an effect on the kidneys and urinary tract in cats. So maybe not most diets are here. I also feed canned food. But they love it and love to eat it. So I guess I have to ration.

Pros
  • High in protein and nutrients: High in protein and nutritious ingredients like taurine and balanced omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine
