The product comes with a tool and cutting instructions. It was too big for my pants size 10. I ordered 35 to 42 I think. I was afraid the next size down would be smaller. The problem was that the tool was bad, as were the instructions. This was extremely difficult to make and there are extra pieces that come loose from the strap and if you are not careful they are difficult to put back on. Would I buy this again? Not if I don't get the right size. I'm not at all impressed that I can correct the size myself. Yes, the belt is most likely leather and the price was decent. Still annoying that resizing takes so long.
