They were much stronger and more durable than I expected. The shelves are already screwed into the wrought iron frame. The only thing you need to add is the bottom rail if you decide to use it. Includes screws, drywall anchors, S-hooks, and floor rails (x2) Shelves are wood, not vinyl-coated MDF. They look a little rough, like reclaimed barn wood. They're not deep enough to put large hardcover books on, but more than enough for decorative items, a couple of toilet paper rolls, a dopp kit or cosmetic bag, etc. They're only 6 inches deep, but they're enough to fit in to make a difference in the small dressing room they entered. We were able to find a stud so we only had to rely on a drywall mount on the other side. Make sure you have a bubble level to start with so you don't hang them crooked :-) I'm very happy with them, they look great and are easy to put up.
