Review on Bi Color 3200 5000K Traveling Filmmakers Photography by Ryan Arthur

Great for streaming, but watch out for the remote.

The best thing about this product is its compact size, light weight and overall portability given the brightness it offers. It also comes with a carrying case, but you'll need to completely disassemble it to fit the case. I use them as the main light source for work from home, presentations and calls, and no matter what time of day I can always match the color with the diffused sunlight coming through the curtains or my warm lamps in the evening. The large area creates a softbox-like wrapping effect, which you can maximize by keeping the light source close. If you do this, remember to keep the distance between the lights constant and also keep the exposure constant, otherwise the inverse square law will cause large exposure variations for relatively small changes in distance. The fact that it's not heavy makes it easy to mount on a tripod head, which can be on a table tripod or monitor arm (all sold separately) for ease of repositioning and different lighting angles. It's about 1 inch thick, which means I don't need a lot of space between the table and the wall. The only issue I had was that the brightness and temperature are controlled solely via a 4-position d-pad on the control panel. Remote control, there are no controls on the flashlight itself, my remote control is not very reliable, sometimes you have to press the buttons several times, either at an angle, or with more force, just up to the red "Send" LED command issued. Sometimes a temperature change will turn the light off etc. I think this will most likely happen shortly after the light is turned on. So if you press it, give it a few minutes to see if it gets better. Most of the time that's fine, but the problem is that if the remote stops working, I lose a lot of the functionality of this product as I couldn't find any replacement remotes. Smart plug so I don't have to use the remote as much hoping to save it. Light (on or off) when powered it will turn on with the latest brightness and color. The intelligent socket allows the light to be switched on with maximum brightness. In some cases, the left direction on the d-pad (making the light warmer) doesn't work, it doesn't even turn on the "Transmit" LED. The most reliable way I've found to fix this is to press left in quick succession a few times. The remote control should work in less than a minute.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • A newer model could have been chosen
