Review on ๐Ÿ”ฅ iLuv Thermoplastic Polyurethane iPod Touch Case - White with White Flames: The Ultimate Protection by Nathan Ortiz

Durable case that stays tight

Full Disclosure: I bought this from my local TJ Maxx but it's the same model. I've tried several silicone and hard plastic cases for my iPod Touch 3G, but they all had issues. Cheap silicone cases either don't stay in place or cover the ambient light sensor (which keeps my screen dark unless I switch to manual brightness). The nicer (and more expensive) silicone cases add too much bulk and still seem to loosen up over time so they stay loose. The hard plastic shells don't seem to stick together and they don't seem to offer all that much protection. This case seems like a good compromise: it's a lot stiffer than silicone and can be difficult to put on the first few times - start with the power button and work your way around the corner - but it means it won't come loose until you do want to remove it. The surface is not as grippy as silicone, but feels good in the hand and does not pick up dust like silicone. While protection is subjective (unless you plan on buying and testing multiple iPods), the material feels thick enough to absorb some of the shock. Haven't tried the screen protector that comes with it, but it's reasonably priced enough not to be too much. The only con I see is the pattern on the case - it's molded so you stick to it, but the flames are not all that distracting, and for the price I paid it's worth it.

Pros
  • Anti-glare touchscreen protection included
Cons
  • Slim
