Review on ๐ŸŒธ BABEYOND Women's Kimono Cardigan Outwear in Blossom Red - Ideal for Swimsuits & Cover Ups by Michael Jennings

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not all colors are the same material; different experience depending on design

Despite common use, the same listing with the same Descriptions, different designs of these kimono robes are different from each other. This leads to an inconsistent customer experience and also makes it difficult to write a review that applies equally to the entire list. I bought 3 different designs from the same listing and I rate them as follows: Plum Green: 4-5. Stars - Plum Pink: 4-5 stars - Plum Red: 2.5 stars (repeated) FABRIC: PINK AND GREEN Each of the pink and green colors looks and feels like a good satin polyester charmeuse: they are soft and lightweight, they move gently on the skin, draping almost like silk. I have a hand painted 100% silk robe and this is my second choice when I'm not wearing silk (usually because I'm putting on some kind of lotion or perfume that may damage the silk or do something that may damage the silk). like cooking) The inside of the green and pink robe is slightly translucent white - you can't see through the robe at all when I'm wearing it, but you can see the printed design on the inside. None of them have a lining, and no lining is needed. Both the pink and green have tags that say "100% polyester" and they look like some vintage Victoria's Secret robes I own that are also 100% polyester, except they are actually lighter and cooler seem as VS. Not sure if this could be partly related to relative age/handling. The stitching is of the quality I expect at this price point. FABRIC: RED So the RED robe is a whole different beast. This fabric definitely does NOT look like charmeuse satin. It's heavier and thicker and has a solid tan/beige color on the inside and isn't as comfortable against the skin. It looks and feels like nylon lining, but is actually just the unprinted side of the fabric. Too bad the inside looks so disgusting because the color and print is lovely on the outside. The stitching and inseam of the red one aren't that good either, especially around the pockets. It was very different from the second one when I took it out of the box. I've tried putting it on if it's not as different as it looks, but it gets heavier, more structured, and less breathable. It also creases and makes a rubbing noise when you move, like an old-school windbreaker or sweatpants. I'd rather wear red as outerwear over jeans and a t-shirt if I wasn't too muggy or hot. This is something I will only wear for beauty, not comfort, and since my internet is supposed to wear this while lounging around the house, it won't work for me. The unevenness of the fabric of these garments makes me wish I had given one as a gift, as I now don't know if my recipient received a lightweight, silky soft comfort piece or more of a long, beautifully patterned windbreaker. I can't believe she got what I was trying to send her. However, there are a few things that go with all 3: Overall length just above the ankle / around the bottom of the calf for me (5'6") - sleeves just below the elbow (not quite 3/4 long) which is good length so you don't have to crawl into the sink or stove in the kitchen - side slits are nice (yes you have to cut the little connecting thread) - pockets! who doesn't love pockets. the overall fit and style is good. it is really unfortunate that red is so disappointing and the seller deliberately fails to inform buyers of the fiber content. The label says '100% Satin' which is useless.Satin is a fabric, not a material. The seller seems to know the difference , as the other labels say they mean '100% polyester.' So what is red made of? Nylon? Something different? Why are they so different? And why do all three of them say '100% charmeuse satin โ€, although they are clearly different? Red sees doesn't look or feel like charmeuse. Several people asked about the composition of the fabric in a Q&A and the seller refused to answer, saying "satin" instead of "polyester charmeuse satin" or "nylon satin". Obviously people want to know what real fiber is made of so they came to make sure they knew what they were ordering but the salesperson said nothing. It's a bit iffy and it leaves a bad taste in the mouth. I was so happy with my first two robes that I could keep gifting myself and other people, but my unexpected experience with red clouded my mind a bit. Now if I want to order more, I must first stop and consider whether it's worth the risk of getting married. I'll come back later and add some photos.
