The left earbud acts as a slave at 2.4 GHz, which is a major drawback for someone who wants to listen to high-quality music when out and about in the city (the right earbud, however, works perfectly). We are constantly exposed to this frequency from various technologies, such as wireless routers and e-readers. As a result, when you are strolling around the city for work, study, or recreation, the left earpiece's frequency will collide with these devices, causing the sound to cut out for 1-2 seconds before being restored. My favorite song acts like a magnet as I walk through two parking lots, a retail complex, and multiple traffic lights on the way to work. Not that this always happens, but knowing I'll have to go through this snafu again takes the fun out of it. I returned them per the instructions on the package, and a week later I bought an identical pair, except this time they were wireless and didn't have a connecting chord. One year of Bose sound is better than one week of spitting on permanent disconnects, although some customers report that the rubber part falls off after a year.
