Very lightweight elastic band. I see what one reviewer meant when he said you stretch it and it just lies there. At first I wanted to send it back as it looked like it couldn't go back in place but it doesn't, it's going back, it's just a very light repair. I realized that I can actually use this over the slipper socks I made so the top doesn't feel tight/uncomfortable. I used to knit a stronger cuff more loosely into the bodice. Now I use this at normal or even fixed voltage. It stretches a little the first time, but is elastic in the sense that it rebounds. It offers some support, perfect for holding up the top of a slipper, but it's a very loose fit and it's also a soft material over the elastic so it doesn't feel rough on the foot. The jury is still out as I test the fine line between something and no fixation to make sure the socks aren't constantly slipping down, that the elastic actually holds up to multiple uses, etc. I've also yet to double check to make sure the elastic after washing the clothes - otherwise it would be a deal breaker ;). I gave it 5 stars as I think it will work well either way based on what I've seen so far for applications where a light grip elastic is required but I think the seller should mentioning that this is the application it should be used for as others looking for a strong grip elastic band will be disappointed.
