The price was right and it would have been in my bag on time on delivery so I ordered it thinking if it survives a trip I'll be happy and next time I will pack a little better and find my forever solution later. No need. This is the goalkeeper. Crazy love for pockets and the overall size of this thing! I was pleasantly surprised at how high quality the entire product was. Below are all the main features and what I found pleasant or frankly impressive about them: - packaging: very nice - durable reusable PVC bag - main fabric/pocket fabric: light weight, not stiff or crunchy like other inexpensive body armor I've had. the reluctance to wear it - main reflective band: not stiff and doesn't have any nasty creases, doesn't let the vest hang down weirdly even when folded up for a long time - pockets: perfectly fitting multi-part construction, good workmanship with good buckles ** (read more about epic pockets below) - Workmanship: both bag flap piping and soft bias tape, lining, garment edges are reflective, seams are high quality and even, zippers, velcro and buttons are well fastened** God, BAGS! These are by far the best features and make me wish this vest came in uncertain colors and in a small size. I would instantly add a pair to my overall camping and outdoor wardrobe. All those pockets and only 8.8 ounces! I didn't realize (probably because I didn't read the details. I was now looking for solutions rather than buying a platonic ideal of form, function and price here) that the chest pockets are so well designed - the left chest pocket is into a front one and rear double compartment divided. The front has a clear PVC window for ID or can turn most phones upside down for a quick look and easy access. The right chest has a flap that hides a flat zip pocket, a key ring/lanyard, a smaller zip flap pocket and a pen pocket (not sure if it will hold a flat carpenter's pencil but I suspect it will). The thigh pockets are a really good size and close with snaps. These are plastic latches, but they snap securely in place and keep the weight down. Yes, I became one of them. Disclaimer Note: This life jacket may not be suitable for everyone. The lightweight material and bag design make me very happy as I am 5ft 4" and my boss who is also my favorite campmate is 6ft 4". Watching me climb the path behind him must be like watching a corgi chasing a German shepherd through a guard dog obstacle course. Maybe I should use this thing on every trip so he can find me faster when I'm chasing him down the trail. Anyway, I love light weight because I wear it over winter shifts and/or load it in a drag backpack (yes, drag and I mean backpack and myself, real talk, a quarter mile in full load, I'm sucking the wind drives him up a$$) Miles uphill towards camp. The same lightweight design might not be as desirable for those who do heavy physical work outdoors on a daily basis. I suspect you'll probably need a replacement at least quarterly since you're doing most of the day-to-day construction. I also suspect that pockets would not be as desirable for many builders because they would be gear obsessed if the vest was loose fitting in summer and paired with a jacket or coat in winter, especially winter. with a jacket that makes everything stand out that much more. Just something to keep in mind when booking a daily driver so to speak. But how beautiful it is, I could be wrong, it can last for years, my experience with this particular type of fabric is limited, or less than $20 a roll, you could just order a handful at a time and call it a garment and one tear-off piece. I think JK is even selling a 5 piece set of these bad boys on sale so you and all your friends can match, or get a year's supply plus daily use. Win anyway.
