Bought this camera on a whim prior to our honeymoon in the Caribbean. We're both avid photographers and typically use DSLRs, but wanted something in the point-and-shoot category, something we wouldn't have to worry about falling or getting wet and could use underwater. We were so impressed by this camera that we never took our DSLR out of our suitcase during the whole trip! It lasted up to a week of continuous use, despite the sun, sand, water and dust, with no glitches and not a single blurry or blurry photo. We took him snorkeling up to 10ft for several hours and he took fantastic photos during or after with no problems. throw in the sand? Wash it off in the ocean! Another impressive feature of this camera is the large number of settings and shooting modes. The filters are incredibly accurate and the processing was very fast (INSTANTLY). Even the processing for panorama mode (which works great!) was completed in less than 10 seconds. My wife liked the "Pop Art" and "Dramatic" settings and all FOUR underwater modes worked great. I don't know what "Lucas Smith" means in his battery life review. Our battery has easily lasted every day (200-300 photos and videos, 6+ hours per day) without dying once. The dual battery/SD card/charging port lock was very easy to use and didn't let a single grain of sand or water drop through during the entire ride. The METAL door automatically slides over the lens, protecting it from dirt and dust. Focusing and shooting are VERY fast. Almost Instantly - Allows enough time for multiple action frames to be active at the same time. I was able to easily take 3-4 shots in 3 seconds (no flash) and they were all sharp. The LCD screen is the best I've seen on a camera - easy to read in bright sunlight and even underwater, crystal clear. crisp and clear. Capturing videos is easy thanks to a dedicated record button in the back corner, no need to fiddle with settings to activate capture mode or record mode. I really wish I could take stills while recording, but it's easy enough to extract frames from a video after you've downloaded it to your computer, and since the video is 1080p the images are still crisp and clear. I haven't tested the freeze and pressure ratings, but given the solid construction and water resistance, I have little doubt as to their accuracy. and shoot the camera, look no further than this. It will satisfy everyone from novice photographers to professionals, and still I wouldn't be afraid to pass it on to my friends' kids to use at the beach or pool. If I could give 6 stars I would. A++ Olympus is a home game.
