I personally had never heard of Zhiyun Smooth 4 until I saw it on Revain. I did some research and this is not a bad stabilizer for beginners at all. The price is damn good compared to other brands I've seen at much higher prices. To me, the instructions that came in the box were pretty much useless. So I suggest watching YouTube videos explaining how to use all the functions, features, tutorials and "how to". They helped a lot! The coolest feature is time lapse, time lapse in motion is something I've wanted to try for a long time. Gravity, aka Dolly Zoom, is great too, but it takes some practice to get amazing results. It's a learning curve for those who've never had both, it may take some time to remember all the settings. But the experience is enjoyable, not disappointing. It's possible to balance the iPhone XS Max, but some arm adjustments need to be made to achieve good balance - smaller phones like the iPhone X can balance better. The application that works with Smooth 4 is not bad, the Bluetooth connection for IOS is immediately available. (I know android users have problem with this, I also saw a YouTube video about it. There is also a disclaimer for android users in the Zhiyun box, so it may be a problem with some android users and this stabilizer give.) With a tripod everything ok, be careful with it, since the legs are small. I mounted this on a larger and sturdier tripod with larger legs to avoid any "tilting". The case that comes with it is regular styrofoam but with no handle, no clasps to close it - it should be strong enough to protect it initially. However, I will have a more complex case for this. It's not something you can attach to the outside of the camera body, any hard impact on the gimbal CAN damage the arms and motors. So I think a special case would make sense. The great thing is that it works with the ZY Play app and just like the description also works with the more advanced FiLMic Pro app. - Some settings are different when using FilMic, so revisit some YouTube videos to see how they work. The gimbal battery life is decent, I really think you will run out of phone battery before the stabilizer. This is a nice feature though, you can charge your phone right in the gimbal. ** The connectors on the gimbal are USB-C, so keep that in mind. It comes with the latest firmware 1.77 so I didn't have to update it when I got it. However, the "Calibration Tool" program, a Mac OS DMG file hosted for free on the Zhiyun website, was corrupted and just didn't work. I sent an email to Zhiyun customer service in China. You could send me a work program. So far so good with Smooth 4, I don't regret my purchase.
