I've been using Excel sensor blades for years and wanted to try the old style shaving. Got some pens and this was the best. I really like the look, weight and length and if I were going to continue shaving the old style I would go with this one. BUT, this shave is no better than my Gillette and no cheaper than my Gillette so after 2 weeks of trying I'm BACK TO my Gillette. Here's why: 1) NOT CHEAPER - a) I'm tired of paying ridiculous amounts of money for blades that probably cost around $0.01 to make. So I try the old-style shaving with metal blades. It turns out NOT CHEAPER. You have to change the blade EVERY day or you'll get bad cuts. Depending on whose knife you buy, these cost around $0.25 a day. So that's $1.75 a week. I can buy my Gillettes in bulk for about $1 and they last a week. b) You need a different, more expensive shaving cream with a higher glide and you need a brush to lather it properly. It costs more and you should buy more often. But some of them smell very nice and I could keep using the cream. 2) SHAVING IS NO BETTER - a) Those old commercials that showed you why 2 or 3 blades are better than 1 turns out to be true! These individual blades don't give as close a shave. b) Easy to cut and trim. c) You get a lot more ingrown hairs. 3) NOT FASTER - Because of a blade, you have to go through things a lot slower and more often. So it takes longer to lather the cream and move very slowly so as not to cut yourself and repeat everything several times to get a close shave. So I'm going back to my Gillette. I can use the blade within a week. I can use almost any shaving cream and can shave really quickly without hurting my face.
