I measured this by holding it against the table with the buckle closed. Mine is 6 3/4 inches long in webbing. In a fully deployed position, it reaches 12 inches. Ideal for the loop from the handle of the checked bag to the handle of the (large) hand luggage. A carry-on bag won't tip over a large bag if you adjust the strap so the small bag lies on the floor behind the large one. Then I tilt the larger one into a pull angle that automatically lifts the smaller one off the ground to pull as a unit. It adds weight to the big two wheels but is easy to maneuver and I like that.
